Music Changes
There have been a few changes made to the music that
deviate from the printed scores.
- Rodgers and Hammerstein On Broadway
-
On page 5, cut out the Vamp at measures 21 and 22.
Just go straight from the end of measure 20 to the beginning of measure 23.
-
On page 21, cut out the optional vamp at measures 203 and 204.
Go straight from end of measure 202 to beginning of measure 205.
-
At bottom of page 14 (measure 124) we are changing the 16th note rhythms to
the well known rhythm of eighth notes at "sweep in down the".
Treat these words as eighth notes in a row.
-
On page 16 measure 140 there is a misprint in the bass cleft.
The tied D note should be a quarter note, not a half note as printed.
-
On page 22, measures 210 through 213, the Baritone part will
re-sing the same notes as sung in measures 206-209, not the notes
that are written in 210-213.
This will create harmony for measures 210-213.
Of course, men must sing the same lyrics as the Soprano/Alto parts are
singing for measures 210-213.
-
At measures 236 and 237, Soprano and Alto parts sing the quarter notes
as half notes on beats 1 and 3.
-
On page 31, measures 306 and 307, the Tenors will sing a high G while
the Basses stay on the D.
- My Fair Lady
-
On page 8, bottom of page, Tenors DO NOT sing the optional notes.
Same thing on bottom of page 10.
-
On page 11, we are skipping the spoken parts at the bottom of the
page. So at the end of measure 111 skip to the beginning of measure
121 and start singing at the pickup note to measure 122.
-
On page 27, we are cutting out the section for
"I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face".
Skip from the end of measure 294 to page 29 measure 315.
-
On page 39, last system, there are new note assignments for the
Soprano, Mezzo and Alto parts.
At measure 443, the Sopranos sing G, Mezzos sing F and Altos sing B.
At measure 444, the Sopranos stay on the G, the Mezzos move down to E and
the Altos move up to C.
- Comedy Tonight
-
On page 9 at the bottom (measure 92) the rhythm changes to 3/4 time and
the rhythm changes.
For those who know this piece, the rhythm in the score slows down
dramatically.
However, this time around we will not slow down there.
The measures 92-99 will be taken in an easy waltz tempo which is not
much different than the pace of the preceeding measures.
SO ... listen to the MIDI or this section will surprise you.
- Andrew Lloyd Webber medley
-
On page 13, the piano instrumental (measures 123-169) has been cut.
- Greased Lightin
The following changes can be seen by clicking on this
of Page 11 PDF link.
-
On page 11, Tenors wait until measure 81 to come in on a B and Altos hold off on
coming in until measure 82 and sing the D instead of the B.
Basses stay on the G for all four measures 80-83.
- Similarly in the next system Tenors wait until measure 85 to come in on a C and Altos hold off coming
in on an E-flat until measure 86.
Basses stay on the A-flat for all four measures 84-87.
And at measure 87, Tenors stay on the C instead of jumping up to the E-flat.
Solo Parts
In the Rodgers and Hammerstein medley there are a number of places where
we will have solos (or small groups) perform.
These are the measures of the solo parts.
-
Opening through measure 8, "The hills are alive..."
-
End of measure 8 to end of measure 16, "The hills fill my heart ..."
-
Alto solo at measure 74 through 86, "I'm gonna wash that man ..."
-
Measures 148 through 152, "Whenever I feel afraid ..."
-
Measures 176 - 194 will be divided among 4 people.
This is the Do-Re-Mi song
-
Measures 244 - 251, "I keep wishing I were somewhere else ..."
-
Measures 271 - 276 will be divided up.
This is the Nothing Like a Dame song
